Yes, we rewrote “history,” because the old version forgot to centre women. Here, we flip the script with joy, connection, and gloriously good books.

We’re a proudly British retreat with roots in feminism and branches that reach straight for pleasure, community, and rest. Our values matter, but so does having a bloody good time.

We’re not here to lecture; we’re here to live our values with ease. That means calling out misogyny and prejudice when it shows up, but also knowing that joy is protest, rest is resistance, and community is how we rebuild ourselves.

We dream of a world where every woman feels safe to move, travel, and rebuild her life,  across borders, across chapters, across whatever she’s leaving behind.

Safety shouldn’t depend on paperwork; opportunity shouldn’t depend on luck. Every woman deserves the freedom to begin again.

But here’s the real heartbeat of HerStory…

We’re about joy.

About cosy cafés.

About big laughs, good books, and a little fizz at the end of a long month.

About escapism, friendship, and the magic of women reading and sharing in stories.

And we make sure that luxury that doesn’t gatekeep.

We believe this kind of escapism shouldn’t be reserved for the wealthy- so we price with purpose. HerStory keeps events as accessible as possible without compromising on care, comfort, or quality, because community means nothing if only a few can enter it.

Here’s what we stand for (always with a brew or a glass of fizz in hand):

We believe women’s rights are non-negotiable.

The right to choose.

The right to feel safe.

The right to take up space without apology.

And yes, the full inclusion of our trans sisters in this circle.

We believe in a community where every woman belongs: women of all faiths, no faith, every background, and every identity. If you’re here for stories, connection, and a little bit of magic, you’re one of us.

We may still be a small but mighty crew, but with big hopes of supporting organisations doing vital work such as:

• Women’s Aid – for those facing domestic abuse
• BPAS (British Pregnancy Advisory Service) – for reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy
• Stonewall- for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion
• Women for Refugee Women- Dedicated to supporting refugee and asylum-seeking women
• Women‘s Community Matters- Our local legal, financial and mental health support for women and single mothers. 

These are the people rolling up their sleeves on the frontlines and we cheer from the sidelines.

Because sometimes rebellion looks like a raised fist

and sometimes it looks like a woman with a book, finally exhaling.

HerStory is where softness and strength sit side by side.

Where you can put your armour down.

Where the world quiets for a minute and you remember who you are.
